Longer Term

• Con - New York Comic Con - New York, NY - Friday to Sunday
• Yes. These things have been spawning up all over the place. We've heard some good things about New York's version. And really, it has a good showing of nerds playing dress up in mass. Probably some movie showings. Oh, and maybe some comics. Comic cons have comics still right?
• Festival - Spooky Music and Film Festival - Silver Spring, MD - Starts Wednesday
• Halloween / horror themed musical film festival.

Monday

• Circus - Big Top Circus - Dulles, VA - most of the evening
• Last day of this particular circus. If you're missing out on circus food, high rope acts or the like, we're pretty late in the season. May be one of your last times to do so this year. Speaking of which, check out the Circus School Project for the area.

Thursday

• Gaming - DCGN Knows itself - Washington, DC - 7:00 PM
• DC Game night always brings the game nights on strong. Good group of people. Personally vetted by DC Geeks staff.

Friday

• Music - Lauren Fairweather  - Springfield, VA - 7:00 PM
• Just found out about this geek musician while doing research for this article.  Man, starting to really like her stuff.  Check out a video here about Harry Potter.

Saturday

• Outside - Capture the Flag! - Washington, DC - 7:00 PM
• Awesome looking big game of Capture the Flag with local Redditors. The internet, outside, coming at you at full speed to steal your stuff(flag(s)).
• Nerd Sports - League of Legends World Championships - Washington, DC - 7:00 PM
• ONOG event for the League of Legends (a popular strategy video game) Championship matches from Public Bar. This is the same group that brought you BarCraft. Drinking while talking about video game strategy and nerding out with your fellow... nerds. I think I used that word too often in one sentence.
• Outside - Ghosts and Gargoyles - Washington, DC - 7:00 PM
• An interesting themed tour of the National Cathedral. Title sums it up pretty well. Lots of talk about the statues on the outside of the building. Hopefully they will cover the Vader head as well.
• Comedy - Improv Now! - Dulles, VA - 7:30 PM
• Two groups of people getting together that we have talked to in various times past. Improv Now does a supercomedy team up with the Improper Imps. Surely a thing of legends. Will be funny. Notice how that's a definitive statement. Now they have to bring it.

Sunday

• Nerd Sports - Quiddich Match - College Park, MD - 8:30 AM
• Yes. Geeks with broomsticks, and most likely a guy dressed up as the golden snitch running away. I've seen a match or two of these. Way way more fun than I would have imagined. And if you haven't been to one, just as strange as your imagining. No, none of that thing you're thinking of. What the hell? Come on, that's not even legal.
