This looks surprisingly like a lot of our movie collections, we suspect. via meddygarnet |
Tuesday
- The Princess Bride - Bethesda, MD - 9 PM
- I hope we don't have to describe to you how awesome Princess Bride is. As well as how amazing it is to see on the big screen. WESLEY! Not Crusher either.
Wednesday
- Canal Park Movies : DC versus Marvel Comics - The Dark Knight - Washington, DC - Sundown
- This wasn't in theaters the first time that long ago, but honestly, it's probably the best DC property to hit the Silver Screen.
- Brewing in the Age of Pirates - Washington, DC - 5 PM
- Part historical geek with part pirate geek. They teach the actuality of the brewing process in a bygone era.
- Aliens in D.C. Scavenger Hunt - Washington, DC - 5 PM
- Not so much hunting for aliens, but alien themed. Bonus points if you dress up as a Jaeger from Pacific Rim.
Thursday
- Yuri's Night at the Smithsonian - Washington, DC - 8 PM
- Space facts, dancing, music, and fellow space nerds.
Saturday
- NERDS! Trivia Night - Washington, DC - 8 PM
- Nerd oriented trivia. Bonus points if you name your team Shai-Hulud (post a picture in the comments if you do).
Sunday
- E.T.: The Extraterrestrial - National Harbor, MD - Sundown
- Wow, this movie hits right in the feels whether you saw it as a padawan or not. Amazing and still classic.
Longer Term
- Pennsic War - Slippery Rock, PA
- Even outside of the awesomeness of non padded weapon combat, lots of historical educational aspects. The folks over at SCA are knee deep into getting the feeling of the period right.
- Synthetic Theater: A Midsummer Night's Dream - Arlington, VA
- No words. Just acting. Classic play about Fae. Yum.
- North American Discworld Convention - Baltimore, MD
- Yeah, so if you're like a lot of us, unnaturally obsessed with Terry Pratchett. This is probably something you're going to. I'm sorry if we're the first you've heard of it. But now that you know. Go! :)
- Indie Con DC - Washington, DC
- Only two weeks until we join Gaming In Public and IGDA DC at Public Bar in Tenley for the area's biggest indie gaming gathering. Chat with developers, demo their games and hang out with 4pm-10pm August 3rd. (p.s., it's free)
Did we miss something? If you have an event you’d like to promote that isn’t on this list, leave a comment or email us. Other weekly recurring events are listed on our website (such as Rocky, CCG tournaments, crazy themed happy hours). For more information, check out the calendars at DC Geeks.
Oh! And Misbehavin' Maidens at Piratz Tavern on Thursday! Details: https://www.facebook.com/events/158525090996888/
