- Not for Illicit Use - Unallocated Space Lockpicking Night - Severn, MD - 7:00PM
- So, hypothetically, you're house-sitting for a friend. This friend, hypothetically, has a hot tub, but hasn't told you that the door to it locks automatically behind anyone who closes it. Luckily, you're clothed when you go to check the chemical levels before jumping in. Bad news: your keys are locked inside. Good news: you have your wallet and this badass metal business card in your pocket! Worst news: you missed lockpicking night and have no idea how to use it. Avoid this hypothetical fate, and head out to the Unallocated Space this week, you don't have to be a member.
- MURICA - 14th Annual Midtown Liberty Bar Tour - Washington, DC - 5:00PM
- Listen, even if you have to be sober to get the kids to the parade tomorrow, you can sleep in until like EIGHT in the morning since it's your day off! So head out from 5:00pm to midnight and hit as many of the 17 Dupont bars in the crawl as you can. Tickets are available in advance at this link. With all the discounted beers, remember to pace yourself to be the last one standing in your group of friends. Challenge accepted?
- Holiday - July Fourth - Especially in DC - All day
- Can't help but quote: "We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice, 'We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive!' Today we celebrate our Independence Day!" Unrelated: Regardless of how you feel about SCOTUS, just keep in mind that there's going to be fireworks and a parade, and probably no aliens.

- Browncoats - Serenity Showing at Midnight - Washington, DC - 11:59PM
- Now, it's not "Out of Gas" but I'm glad to see anything from the Firefly 'verse getting screen time at a real theater. Admission is only $9, and it's a great chance to grab that last friend of yours who's been addicted to Firefly but hasn't caught the film. But it isn't the greatest as a jumping off point if you're trying to get someone completely new hooked on the series. Head over to E Street if you're interested. "Squish."
- Apocalypse - Redditors: Humans vs. Zombies - Washington, DC - 2:30PM
- Rule Number One isn't in fact "Cardio, Cardio, Cardio." It's not even "Don't talk about Reddit events." It's RTFI because the rules are a mite complicated. The DC-area redditors are meeting up at Reno Park for a modified version of tag, or Calvinball. Be prepared for a lot of running. Bring lots of water and as much of your nerf arsenal you can carry.
- Geek Kids - NoVA Makers' "Summer Camp" - Reston, VA - Tonight through Friday
- Anything that gets kids excited in STEM is automatically wonderful. Full stop. And Nova Labs has three summer sessions that are aimed to teach 10-14 year olds how to create mobile apps. Sessions are from 11:00AM to 2:00PM (so pack 'em a lunch) and start this week: Session One is July 1-5, Session Two is July 22-26, and Session Three is July 29-August 2. Hook them while they're young. Prove to the kidlings that the division between the "English kids" and the "Math kids" is nothing but vicious lies.
