This Week in Geek: I love you all too much to lie

A showcase of this week's finest geek and geek related activities for the week. Mark your calendars.

After staring at the glitched Creative Commons Search [Beta]
for weeks, I can finally just slap this up here and yell "April Fools!"
Am I doing it right? (image via me, and any CC search on Flickr).

Note: DC Geeks cannot be held responsible for any events which may be fictitious due to the date of this posting. Thank you for your understanding.
(No, seriously though, these are all real. I like, triple-checked. ~Aine).

Today

  • Board Games - Game Night at Game Parlor - Chantilly, VA - 5:00PM
    • When I think of Game Parlor, I usually think of combing through for an rpg supplement, some new dice, etc. However, they’re having a board game night tonight. So if you’re near Chantilly and looking for a way to geek out this evening so you don’t think about the other four crushingly long days left in your work week, go out and wreck a bitch at Ticket to Ride.
Tuesday

  • Moar Games!! - GCOM at Labyrinth - Washington, DC - 6:00PM
    • Not sure if this is members only, but the Games Club of Maryland is now joining up with Labyrinth for some monthly events. Sounds like a great combination. You might want to give either the club or the shop a ring to make sure it’s open invite, but it is on their public calendar, so I’m throwing it in here just in case. It’s too awesome not to.

I regard all Maker, Hacker, and DIY skills with
the same awe as I do all wizardry.

Wednesday

  • Maker-ing - Clay Date at NoVA Labs - Reston, VA - 7:30PM
    • When I think about NoVA Labs, I usually think of demos on laser etching, 3D printing, arduino, and other skills necessary to assemble your own empathic AI or battle-ready mecha. This event is a bit different. By request, there will be a quick class in the use of polymer clay. Finally, something I don’t think I can set on fire. Remember to RSVP on their meetup page above.
Sunday

  • Nerdlesque - Lord of the Pasties! - Baltimore, MD - 7:00PM
    • So, when they performed this last time just before the Palace closed, the place was sold the hell out. I assume they’re going to do so again. Don’t let the Baltimordorians take all the space! Sign up now for tickets. It’s at the officially badass Windup Space (as if the list of performers wouldn’t make it worth the drive), and you’re encouraged to cosplay. I don’t have any cons for you, but this event should make up for it all. I was going to say 18+ or 21+, but neither the website nor the FB link make that restriction. However, I’d still double check before roadtripping it up there if you’re one of our high school readers.

Please enjoy the rest of Internet Lying Day! I recommend the usual suspects: Google,YouTube, Twitter, ThinkGeek, and hipster penguins. I was sorely tempted to add a fake surprise Protomen concert to the event list, but I'd like to be the one place on the web you can trust today. (Although I'm not the only one with admin powers so if this gets edited, I take responsibility for nothing!)

Did we miss something? If you have an event you’d like to promote that isn’t on this list, leave a comment or email us. Other weekly recurring events are listed on our website (such as Rocky, CCG tournaments, crazy themed happy hours). For more information, check out the calendars at DC Geeks.
