Pwning from ShootMania to Risk with Sabre

Some of you may remember Sabre from our interview with her last July. We caught up with her at MAGFest last weekend and found out about all sorts of badass news.

How you gonna keep 'em down in the office park, after they've seen E3?

First, we're thrilled to offer our congratulations to Sabre, who's taken the plunge, ditching the soul-crushing onslaught of TPS reports and office drudgery to focus on Frag Dolls. "I can't squander this opportunity... I have to give it 100%." Sabre opens up about some of the challenges and rewards of, what some would consider, living the dream. No rest for the wicked however - group practices are starting up for the 2013 season.

That's right, the Frag Dolls are getting back into pro gaming. Not content to rest on past laurels, the Frag Dolls are more than just a beautiful marketing team, they're professional gamers out to prove that they're still the best. Although the FD team can compete in non-Ubisoft tournaments on their own time, currently everyone is training for their sponsor's upcoming game, ShootMania.

If you haven't, I recommend starting by watching the ShootMania Storm trailer because it is gorgeous. Beyond functions like a matchmaking system to pit players against someone their own size, the game has a few unique multiplayer features. Sabre describes one 3x3 mode where you defend as a team, but attack alone. Attackers have a sniper-rifle-like laser, and defenders have rockets. Oh, and did I mention that your team is standing by, watching the action through your eyes as you run into the bear pit? No pressure.

I know I'm not cut out for professional gaming competitions.
I can't stop saying "pewpew" when Imma firin' mah lazors.

If you're interested in throwing down against the best and you want to get in ahead of everyone else: The Storm preorder includes instant Beta access, but you have to sign up soon (here's the link).

If you're reading this and daydreaming about being a Frag Doll (and are an woman over the age of 18), there's still time for you to apply for the 2013 Cadette Academy! All the info is here. Get fundamental industry training and spend a year working with the Frag Dolls. You only have until January 15th, so hone that resume, cover letter, and gaming CV, and send it in!

Of course, this wouldn't be a DCG podcast if we weren't a little ADD, so we also discuss glitches in Street Cleaner Simulator and the most accurate ad for the Super Mario Bros Wii game that I've ever seen. We also go into why Risk Legacy is so good even if you've sworn off Risk since what you and your family will only refer to as "The Incident," you should still check it out. Also, you need to be playing SpaceTeam.

Want to find out more about Sabre and the Frag Dolls (why does that always sound like a mid-nineties band name)?
Thanks again for taking the time to talk with us, Sabre!
