If you think this is all there is to MAGFest, you're in for a surprise. (image by MAGFest's press kit) |
- Con - MAGFest - National Harbor, MD - Thursday through Monday
- It's this weekend. For those of you unfamiliar with MAGFest it's four days of love (both sweet, adoring, and possibly illegal types) for video games and their music. There’s an amazing number of concerts, full cabinet arcade games, tournaments, gaming, film projects, and panels, all devoted to our common obsession. And if you stay during the wee hours of the night, it gets even better. Just remember, don't call it's a con. It's a festival - by decree of Sunny (Listen to our podcast to learn of Sunny's benevolent dictatorship).
- Holiday - Zombie New Year’s Eve Bash - Washington, DC - 9:00 PM
- There are more New Year’s Eve events going on in the DC region than any single mind should try to comprehend. Not to mention the revolt of both your liver and central nervous system if you tried to get to them all. No need, because this year it's easy. With the passing of the Red Palace, the only choice this year is their annual Zombie New Year’s Eve get together. Drinks, live spun music, and all the best of DC’s folks will be there. Come and say goodbye in style.
- Holiday and Gaming - NYE at Game Parlor - Chantilly, VA - 10:00 PM to 10:00 AM
- While I would recommend the Red Palace as it's a chance of a lifetime, not everyone's into burlesque. So for you gentle souls, I offer a fallback plan: support your local game store. Food is provided, tickets are $16.50, and space is limited. So if you're less of a champagne fan, and more a Ticket to Ride fanatic, make sure you don't lose your spot. Email the organizers to see if there's still space.
- Performance - Elvis’ Birthday Fight Club - Washington, DC - 8:30 PM
- Just give it a minute. Let the title soak in. It's Elvis’ birthday, so what better way for folks to celebrate than to costume up, and fight it out for your entertainment? Not to mention the lovelies who will keep the crowd entranced between bouts, but really, you have to see this one for yourselves. Brought to you by the organizers of Yuri's Night.
Did we miss something? If you have an event you’d like to promote that isn’t on this list, leave a comment or email us. Other weekly recurring events are listed on our website (such as Rocky, CCG tournaments, crazy themed happy hours). For more information, check out the calendars at DC Geeks.
