This Week in Geek: Bring Out Your Dead AND Your Undead

A showcase of this week's finest geek and geek related activities for the week. Mark your calendars.

Guy in face paint is just chill as fuck; it's awesome.

Thursday

  • Gaming - I Can Pathfinder and So Can You: Intro - Glen Burnie, MD - 6:00PM to 11:30PM
    • Introduction to the Pathfinder Society that meets at Games & Stuff. The introduction helps new and potential members learn about organized play and/or the Pathfinder system. Character sheets are provided and they'll help you through generation if needed. Venture officers will be on hand to help. Oh, and there are raffle prizes.
Saturday
  • Tinkering - Nova Labs Takeapart Day - Reston, VA - 2:00PM to 4:30PM
    • (This event is aimed at families and has a $10/person materials charge). While it may be viscerally satisfying to go all Office Space on that printer, Nova Labs has a different idea. This weekend they're offering a repeat of one of their all-time most popular events and taking some non-functioning computer equipment apart to show off what makes them work. The insides are beautiful. Let's see what they look like.

Amazing shirt from David Malki's Wondermark
(Buy it here and look extra prepared for Maker events)
  • Outdoor Movie  - Monty Python and the Holy Grail - Ellicott City, MD - 10:00PM
    • After the Main Street Music Fest winds down, The Wine Bin is throwing their last outdoor movie while it's still warm enough. And they've picked a geek staple to end on. If there were an award for the movie that has interrupted the most game sessions with quotes, The Holy Grail would come in a close second, beat only by Summoner Geeks. Bring out your dead, grab some wine, and wait for someone else to quote along before you start inevitably doing so.

Longer Term

  • Convention - Monster Mania - Hunt Valley, MD - Friday through Sunday
    • Now, people may bitch about Christmas coming early, but with so many horror fans, Halloween can't come soon enough. If Monster Mania wasn't already on your radar, you've missed online registration, but never fear! (Well, or don't fear until you get there, since it is a horror convention). There are still tickets to be had at the door. Check out the info from the main page above, or join in the excitement with other fans on their Facebook page.

Did we miss something? If you have an event you’d like to promote that isn’t on this list, leave a comment or email us.  Other weekly recurring events are listed on our website (such as Rocky,  CCG tournaments, crazy themed happy hours). For more information, check out the calendars at DC Geeks.
