This Week in Geek: You Require More Minerals

A showcase of this week's finest geek and geek related activities for the week. Mark your calendars.

Weekend-long
  • PrinceCon - Princeton, NJ - Friday through Sunday
    • If you love small, college conventions, there's another chance this weekend up in Jersey. Admission for the whole weekend is only $20, but here's what sets PrinceCon apart, "The Simulation Games Union's annual convention consists of tabletop roleplaying in a shared world, centered around a common goal." Check the website for this year's theme and to download player guides for the shared setting.

Thursday
  • Pi Day! - All around - Peaks at 1:59
    • How many digits can you recite? Pi is useful to math mathematicians, but I feel that the number found its true calling as a measuring stick for who could be top nerd in High School. Love on it and make a few mundanes cringe today. (Before you all email me, yes I know this is also the MRA-encrusted "Steak and a BJ" day. But I don't see what's specifically nerdy about wanting food and sex - I figure that was a nearly pan-human need.)
Friday
  • Epic Win Burlesque (21+) - Washington, DC - 8:45 and 11:00PM
    • They promise to "nerd all over you." Costuming is highly encouraged, and might even win you something! So throw on your best bow tie or your longest scarf or that super suit and head on out to see an amazing show. Without finer tuned oracular ability, I can't guarantee it'll sell out, but I think that not buying tickets in advance is deeply foolish.
Saturday
  • MAGFest Presents: Games over Baltimore - Baltimore, MD - 8:00PM
  • Barcraft Returns! - Washington, DC - 1:30PM
    • You know that you love Starcraft enough that you'll forgive the One Nation of Gamers for threatening that the event would be "swag." Hit up Public Tenley for some intense competition, and maybe even some Zergling-themed drinks.
Cake, pie... Maybe I shouldn't write on an empty stomach.

Sunday
  • St. Patrick's Day - Bars - Noon through Last Call
    • The link is to the DC parade, but I'll be honest. I'm just going to head off to play the Boondock Saints drinking game with friends. I hope you have fun similarly disregarding whatever the origins were of this holiday, surround yourself with drinking buddies, pay your DD well, and get into some shenanigans. Hmm, maybe this year I'll relax to Secret of Kells while I nurse my Irish coffee on Sunday morning.
Monday
  • Post-Saint Hangover - Washington, DC - 8:00PM
    • Need a bit of hair of the dog? The event is super simple: acquire a few specialty drinks, relax without a cover charge, and kick back to some It's Always Sunny. Simple, relaxing, and alcoholic - exactly how the day after St. Patrick's Day should be.
Did we miss something? If you have an event you’d like to promote that isn’t on this list, leave a comment or email us. Other weekly recurring events are listed on our website (such as Rocky, CCG tournaments, crazy themed happy hours). For more information, check out the calendars at DC Geeks.
