A showcase of this week's finest geek and geek-related activities for the week. Mark your calendars, and (let's see if I can get this right) "Cower brief mortals!! Ho, Ho, Ho!!!"
With so many gadgets that twinkle and gleam, it's no surprise a few props end up on the tree. (photo by Jason Dean) |
Keeping this week a bit brief because many of you probably had your holiday week booked back in October. But for the rest of us bumming around, here's a few ways to get out and have fun.
- Holiday - Hogswatch - Everywhere - All Day
- Well, technically, I suppose that Hogswatch was on Solstice, but either way it's cause for celebration. The sun has come up and the longest night has passed. Whether you have kids to maintain the fiction/traditions for, or you're going to bust out the board games, I hope you all have a wonderful time of it. Alternately, here's the family gathering drinking game:
- Gaming - DCGN Will Trade French Hens for Lords A-Leaping - Washington, DC - 6:00PM
- Get any games this year? I'm betting you have at least an expansion or two that you haven't gotten to try out yet. Why wait for everyone to get back from vacation? Meet up, play games, have a brew. DCGN is meeting up at DC Bread and Brew for coffee, cocktails, and Carcassonne. With all this alliteration, I should gather up Gloom and go along.
Friday
- Burlesque - GiGi Holliday's Ladies' Night Out - Washington, DC - 8:30PM
- "Last Call... For now." GiGi gave us the teaser trailer for this event when she joined our podcast the other week. With the Red Palace closing, this is their final Friday night event, and GiGi says she's going all out. The show should be at least two hours long, and I'm sure everyone involved is going all out.
Did we miss something? If you have an event you’d like to promote that isn’t on this list, leave a comment or email us. Other weekly recurring events are listed on our website (such as Rocky, CCG tournaments, crazy themed happy hours). For more information, check out the calendars at DC Geeks.
