Longer Term
  • Zombies! - Run For Your Lives! - Saturday AND Sunday - Darlington, MD
    • We shouldn’t really need to do much more about this event, other than tell you when it is. Our own Aine wrote about the experience last year, and from my tracking of them across the country it looks like the zombies have only swelled in numbers and craftiness since last year. Two things to be aware of for this year, though: 1) Saturday is completely sold out, but the organizers have opened up the course for Sunday runners as well. You’ve got till October 23, 2012 at 11:59 PM to get in on the fun. 2) If you are there are Saturday, wave hello. DC Geeks will have a small team out there, running from zombies and documenting the Great War for future generations. (Watch for comments from Aine’s Twitter).
Tuesday
  • Celebrations - Mole Day - 6:02 AM through 6:02 PM
    • The beauty of this holiday is that you can celebrate it anywhere, as long as you have something composed of matter and a desire to know how much of it there is.. Its also a great time for all our beloved chem geeks to share their knowledge with us, and most importantly, share those chem major party tricks that made college parties so much fun.
Friday
  • Performance - Tilted Torch: Spook-O-Rama - 9:00 PM - Washington, DC
    • The first of our Halloween run up events this week, and it promises to be a great one. Head games and sideshow, neo-tribal fusion dancers, monsters and games and audience involvement all spell out a fun night in my mind. Just be sure to get up there a bit early and give yourself the time to settle in for a fun night.

Saturday
  • Zombies!! - Zombie Lurch 2012 - 5:00 PM - Washington, DC
    • Its the Halloween season, so you know there’s going to be more than one zombie event in the area. For those of you less into the survival and more into gnawing on the brains of your former fellow humans, there’s this year’s zombie lurch. Don your most appropriate clothes, cover that healthy glow with the colors of your death, and let out your inner undead. Oh, and a bonus: drinks after the lurch to wash the taste out of your mouth. After all, humans are pretty greasy tasting.
  • Stories - Where the Wild Things Are - 6:00 PM - Fairfax, VA
    • Personal opinion time: if you’ve never sat down and listened to folks who are actual storytellers, you’re missing out. Take folks with a talent for storytelling, actually hone that talent with training and practice, and you get people who can keep you entranced for hours with the images that pull out of the air for you. And the folks of Better Said Than Done are some of the best in the region. This week they’ll be performing at Epicure Cafe, focusing on their tales from the wild side. They often sell out, so get down there early, grab a drink, and settle in for an evening.
  • Performance - Step Right Up to the Halloween Circus Show! - 8:30 PM - Washington, DC
    • Our friends at the Red Palace keep packing in the Halloween fun, and they’ve saved their biggest pre-Halloween show for this Saturday. They invite you to run away with the circus, though this time of year you can never be sure exactly who or what is beneath the masks and make up. Three bands are playing that night, a full compliment of horror sideshows, and talented burlesque for the innocents who’ve come to find their dreams. And for the more jaded amongst you, they’ve even lured in members of Zombie Pinup Calendar with the scent of your fresh, warm flesh.

Did we miss something? If you have an event you’d like to promote that isn't on this list, leave a comment or email us. Other weekly recurring events are listed on our website (such as Rocky, CCG tournaments, crazy themed happy hours).
