Funniest Fed Photo op from Arlington Cinema Drafthouse |
Longer Term
- Art - Wicked - Washington, DC - All Week(and the next few weeks)
- Play about the book told from the perspective of the Wicked Witch of the West. Painting her in not quote the awful light of the Wizard of Oz. To a lot of people I've known, this was one of the few books that schools required or allowed to be read as part of an assignment that was actually good.
- General - Can't Stop the Serenity - Screening of Serenity (Charity) - Arlington, VA - Friday to Saturday
- Showing of Serenity at the Drafthouse. Percentage of the profits go to charity. Lots of other events centered around being a Browncoat / obsession with Firefly. Dressing up is encouraged. I know the intro by itself pulls on your heartstrings. Time to go down memory lane and enjoy some firefly goodness.
- Geekish General - Safeway National Capital BBQ Battle XIX - Washington, DC - Saturday to Sunday
- Awesome looking BBQ competition. Plus a bunch of local bands. I love these kinds of things. No quicker way to gain a hundred pounds happily. Wait... I wasn't supposed to eat at every station? How was I supposed to know it's illegal to push kids out of the way for pork tenderloin. Look officer, that grandma shouldn't have taken so long to decide. Check it out and let us know how tasty it was.
- Gaming - Open Gaming @ Affinity Computers - Dulles, VA - 7:00 PM
- Board gaming event
- Comedy - Funniest Fed - Arlington, VA - 7:30 PM
- Finals of the Funniest Fed competition. Think one of those crazy Top... something or other shows on tv, but for local federal employee comedians. Way waaaay too many geeks in the area either work as or with feds. So the humor here should be just about on par. Another good example.
- Art - Art Carnage - Vienna, VA - 8:00 PM
- Art, music, comedy performance night at the Soundry. This month is gender bending themed. So bring out your petticoats and skinny ties.
- Music - Ozomatli - Washington, DC - 8:00 PM
- While only geekish, the performance quality and variety of music that Ozomatli present is well worth checking out. I've seen their performance and I think if you like upbeat sort of dancy music you'll end up enjoying this.
