Longer Term

• Conventions - Balticon 45 - Baltimore, MD - Friday through Monday
• Balticon is a well known regional tradition for general nerd cons. Sponsored by the Baltimore Science Fiction Society. Pretty much your basic nerd convention, but with 45 years of history behind it. Granted, from what I've heard, it's mostly an older and younger crowd, with fewer people between 20 and 40. But those I know who do fall in that age category that go still have a good time.

Wednesday

• Holidays - Geek Pride Day - All Day!
• GET YOUR GEEK ON! By that I mean dress up as Han Solo and Slave Leia for a dinner at 5 Guys. Yes, you may not get served, yes you may spill soda on your favorite conventionwear.... but THIS IS THE DAY TO DO IT. Why wait for Comic Con to let the Narwhals see just how many geeks there are around here. Let it out (no, not that, put that back, I meant your inner geek).

Friday

• Music - Quintron and Miss Pussycat - Washington, DC - 8:00 pm
• Look, this music has been described as "Swamp Tech". As in Louisiana swamp music. I half expect swamp thing to walk out on stage. It's just a very very weird experience. I mean, really really weird.
• General - Goth Prom - Washington, DC - 9:00 pm
• Pretty much what it sounds like. Goth/Industrial dancing. Goth outfits (you better!). Generally a good time. Sort of a tradition for a lot of the geeks / ex-goths that I know. We need a nerd prom to go along with it. For now just imagine it's like the goth part of this.

Saturday

• General - Anime Workshop - Washington, DC - 2pm
• Class teaching how to draw and edit anime and manga. They should be doing some cosplay stuff as well.
• Art - Art Carnage! - Vienna, VA - 8pm
• Variety acts, burlesque, comedy shows, poetry readings, and all sorts of other shit. It's kinda crazy looking. Why am I never free when the awesome is happening? They even have an Iranian rapper. How cool is that?
